A unique species in Mayotte, the Tawny Lemur (Lemur fulvus mayottensis) lives in groups, in a social model similar to ours. His small hands, golden eyes and soft coat give him a plush look. It is not shy and the trees of the tropical park of Jardin Maoré are home to several dozen. From your terrace, you can observe them. They jump from branch to branch, peel the fruit that constitutes their meal and play with their young.
The Escale Association (association Law 1901) is the Mahoran correspondent of CEDTM-KELONIA. Its vocation is to support and develop programs for the study, monitoring and conservation of marine megafauna, in particular sea turtles and their habitats. The daily actions carried out in partnership with Le Jardin Maoré contribute to the management objectives of the remarkable natural site of N’Gouja. They relate to concrete measures: the management of sea turtle populations and their habitats is based on knowledge of their biology and their environment. It is part of a sustainable economic development and ecotourism approach. Various scientific programs are carried out in partnership with KELONIA, IFREMER, CARA Ecology, the Departmental Council of Mayotte and the Marine Nature Park of Mayotte.
