Do you feel like perfecting your swing under the tropics while you discover Reunion Island ?

The island boasts three 9 or 18-hole courses, pleasantly nestled in the lush green tropical landscape. A truly exotic experience !

Reunion Island boasts a wide array of landscapes… and golf courses. It has three courses, which is a respectable number for an island of this size, especially as they complement one another well.

The oldest the Golf Club de Bourbon, founded in 1970, covers an area of 68 hectares in the heart of the Étang-Salé forest to the south of the island. Its 18-hole course is a joy to play (with four par-five holes), covering more than six kilometres through the palm trees, filaos, poinciana, tamarind trees and bougainvillea. The lush vegetation and black sandy ground give it a truly exotic feel.

Well-being and sport…Nowhere near as flat but offering spectacular views over the Indian Ocean, the Golf de Bassin Bleu overlooks the west coast of the island. Its 18 holes are varied and selective, stretching from the shade of the eucalyptus to the edges of the ravines. In fact, at hole number 4, you even have to cross a canyon! After all that effort, you will want to relax: golfers can enjoy the Kaolin wellness area for massages and.. healing treatments.

Smaller but with some fine greens, the 8-hole Golf Club du Colorado is nestled in the Colorado leisure park at La Montagne, in the heights of Saint-Denis. As you may have guessed, this is a hilly course. In fact, it is the highest golf course on Reunion Island, sitting at an average altitude of 600 metres. The gradients mean it is a technical course, with plenty of slopes making for a physically demanding game when you have to climb uphill … small but tough !

Golf Club de Bourbon

The Bourbon Golf Club is located in the heart of the Étang Salé forest, between Saint Leu and Saint Pierre.

Access to the Bourbon Golf Club is from RN 1:

– Coming from the North, take the exit “Le Gouffre / seaside” (just after the “Salt Pond, the Avirons”). At the stop sign, turn left and follow the bike path. Enter the forest road turning left after passing under the 4 lanes. Then hang straight to the right

– Coming from the South, take the exit “Étang salé les hauts – Zone des Sables”. At the roundabout straight ahead, then take a left. Follow the old national road towards Étang Salé les bains. Before going under the bridge of the 4 lanes, go straight on the forest road then right to enter the golf course.

The Bourbon Golf Club is 1 hour from Saint Denis, 30 minutes from Saint Gilles, 15 minutes from Saint Leu and 20 minutes from Saint Pierre.

Golf Club du Colorado

The Colorado Golf Club is the highest in Reunion – and arguably the Indian Ocean – with an average altitude of 600 m. Its 9 holes allow you to admire magnificent landscapes, from the Sainte-Marie airport to the north-east to Saint-Paul in the west of the island.

Known technical because of its sometimes uneven “breathtaking” and ubiquitous slopes (we rarely have flat feet), it is not a very long course, but to succeed a good map is not within reach of the first come (the regulars, more than elsewhere, are quite advantaged).

1: par 5. (467m) Downhill, fairly straight and raised green. Not very difficult … if the wind does not play tricks

2: par 3. (158m) Water and bunkers on the left, bunkers on the right. Demands to play right.

The 3: par 3. (169m) Do not dwell on the magnificent view of the west coast: the green, well protected by bunkers is below and requires a good concentration to be approached.

The 4: by 4. (248m) Reputed the most difficult. Ascent, with strong dog-leg on the left.

5: par 3. (132m) Right, but winds capricious and forest right.

The 6: by 3. (152m) Right. but forest on the right and heavy slope on the left. The winds are pretty facetious.

The 7th: by 4. (320m) The ravine can impress. But no big trouble … if you avoid the water on the right, the forest on the left and the bunkers around the green.

The 8: by 4. (230m) The calvary of the players on foot: the bag is heavy, calves suffer in this impressive climb.

The 9: by 5. (441m) Just hit hard and strong! Elementary, no?

Do not miss: the 19th with its club house with a very cool atmosphere … and the restaurant famous for its hearty cuisine and tasty.

Located 20 minutes from St Denis – the capital city. La Montagne area. For more information please browse here: https://www.golfclubcolorado.fr/
